European recognition of the quality of international activities awarded

The National Agency in the Netherlands has granted an Erasmus+ accreditation for The Dutch Alliance (TDA). It’s a European  recognition of the high quality of our international activities.

Erasmus+ accreditations are now awarded for the first time. The Dutch Alliance network is among the first recipients of the new accreditations in February 2021.

Benefits of Erasmus+ Accreditation

The accreditation enables systematic and strategic mobility activities during the Erasmus+ Programme period 2021-2027.  Accreditation demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to the quality standards of the programme. It secures regular annual funding for mobility. Applications for accreditation have been assessed based on transparent criteria which were the same in all European programme countries.

Wellantcollege, as part of The Dutch Alliance network, has embarked on yet another KA3 voyage in setting up a European Platform for Urban Greening with partners from Czechia, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain and ELCA.

Setting up this network mirrors the challenges addressed in the KA3 project by the Network of Networks, as we are working on how to set up a sustainable online and offline network on a European level.

The project partners, coordinated by Wellantcollege, came together for the kick-off meeting in January. It didn’t take long before the online platform was filled with post-it boards, drawing sheets, conversation tools, PowerPoint drafts, tutorial videos, workgroup links and many more inspiring work tools.

Knowledge, experience, goals, aspirations and even dreams were shared. In further exploring the ambitious work packages, objectives, expectations, challenges, strengths and weaknesses, wishes and commitments on personal and regional level emerged. Leonie Haas visualized the joint story. This will help the partnership to achieve the goals and meet all assessments.

After 3 days of hard work, the partners have established a solid fundament to further build a European Platform for Urban Greening. Along the way, they will be making great use of the experience and expertise acquired by TDA and Wellantcollege as part of the NoN-KA3 project.

Wellantcollege ranks as most sustainable VET school in the Netherlands. According to the annual SustainaBul ranking, a national competition to stimulate and inspire sustainable development in education, Wellantcollege leads the ranking for VET providers in 2020.

The award ceremony took place on December 11th, at the closing event of the symposium Sustainable Thinking & Doing, organized by the cooperative Leren voor Morgen (Learning for Tomorrow; a collective dedicated to implement sustainability in education, from primary schools to research universities).

Why Wellantcollege is named the most sustainable VET school

Wellant scored high with the VET training ‘Livable City and Climate’, where future professionals learn to make sustainable and conscious choices in their field of work.

Also highlighted were the international projects by Wellant, such as the realization of a European Platform for Urban Greening, in cooperation with partners in Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Romania, and Spain.

Another illustration is the ERASDG project where international student teams from Austria, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Spain and the Netherlands tackle authentic learning challenges related to the SDGs.

A third example how internationalisation fosters sustainability at Wellantcollege, is the short-term (online) training offer on environmentally friendly and food safety agriculture for countries outside the EU.

Additionally, the sustainable business operations and Wellant’s collaboration with business and societal partners in the regional Hotspots helped improve the final score.

Gabe van der Zee, Member of the Executive Board, says he’s very proud of this award: “Wellantcollege wants to train professionals who put sustainable thinking and doing at the core of their profession. You can see that in our curricula and business operations, but what I like even more is to see its impact on our students. They are so committed and enterprising. It proves we are on the right track. In the coming years we will continue to embed sustainability in all activities.”
